Over the years this has become one of the most popular events at Arrowhead and has helped raise thousands of dollars to benefit individuals battling Cancer. The original J-Dawg Open was a golf benefit for Jason "J-Dawg" Pyard. Jason is the son of Linda "Pup" Pyard, long-time Manager of Arrowhead G.C. Jason was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in February of '07 and has since beaten Cancer! The tournament was such a great success and so much fun we decided to make it an annual event to benefit an individual or charity.
This year's J-Dawg will benefit Andy Jannenga. Andy was born in Lowell 49 years ago, and he still remains here today. He has 4 kids ranging in age from 10 to 26. About two and a half years ago, he was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of prostrate cancer. He had surgery and they thought they got it all. Last summer it returned and caused a blockage that sent him into the hospital for over a week with acute kidney failure. He has gone through eight weeks of daily radiation and four stent replacement surgeries (and more than likely more going forward) as well as hormone deprivation for the next two years. Andy is very reluctant to ask for help but to make matters worse, he was downsized from his job. Andy's family is very grateful for all the love and support that Andy and his family have received and appreciate the continued prayers as he continues his battle.
